Merit International tourism model gains attention in Montenegro media

Merit International hosted a delegation of ten journalists and editors from Montenegro in Kyrenia from September 3–6, 2026. The visit aimed to showcase a tourism business model that integrates hospitality, gastronomy, wellness, and casino services.

Montenegrin media outlets, including DAN and Investitor, analyzed the model's potential to extend the tourism season beyond the summer months. Reports noted that while Montenegro does not struggle with visitor numbers in August, it faces difficulties maintaining hotel occupancy in November. The integrated service chain observed in Northern Cyprus, which links accommodation, dining, transport, and entertainment, was highlighted as a method to stimulate year-round economic activity.

Prof. İsmet Esenyel noted that such a sector drives a broad economic chain involving construction, trade, and various service industries. Discussions also emphasized the necessity of strong oversight and responsible gaming practices to ensure the sustainability of this model.
