Meritz Securities and Ripple partner to explore digital asset custody in South Korea

Meritz Securities and Ripple are exploring ways to apply institutional digital asset custody and tokenization infrastructure to the South Korean capital market. The two companies entered a strategic partnership on October 7, following an agreement ceremony held in Seoul on October 1 attended by Meritz Securities CEO Won Jae Jang and Ripple President Monica Long.

The collaboration aims to examine the implementation of Ripple’s tokenization infrastructure and its institutional digital asset custody solution, Ripple Custody, within the domestic market. The scope of cooperation will be determined based on current securities regulations and legal frameworks, with plans to expand as institutional changes occur.

Meritz Securities is also reviewing various business areas, including spot digital asset ETFs, fractional investment, security tokens, digital asset trading platforms, and KRW-based stablecoins. While the partnership is in the review stage, the Financial Services Commission has announced that amendments to laws regarding security tokens are expected to take effect on February 4, 2027.
