Merkezi Kayıt Kuruluşu reports 38 trillion lira in securities value

Ekrem Arıkan, General Manager of the Central Securities Depository (MKK), announced that the total market value of securities registered with the MKK has reached 38 trillion lira. This represents an approximately 30 percent increase from the 29 trillion lira recorded at the beginning of the year.

Arıkan noted a shift in investment culture, stating that investors are moving beyond traditional stock trading on Borsa İstanbul toward diverse capital market instruments. The number of registered investors has grown by 3 percent since the start of the year, exceeding 39 million and approaching 40 million. Additionally, the number of accounts with balances has risen by 21.5 percent, reaching approximately 13 million.

Regarding digital assets, Arıkan highlighted that crypto asset investors are now included in the MKK registered investor class. He noted that following regulations by the Capital Markets Board (SPK), the Crypto Asset Central Securities Depository System (KVMKS) has commenced operations.
