Police kill murder suspect in Santiago; four arrested for homicide in Merlo

In the Dominican Republic, police shot and killed Joel Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez during an operation in the La Jagua community of Jánico, Santiago. Rodríguez was a suspect in the sexual assault and murder of Yeny Altagracia Rodríguez, who died from blunt force trauma and stab wounds. During the arrest attempt, authorities report that Rodríguez attacked an officer with a machete. Two Haitian nationals, identified as Papito Jean and Majim B. Pierre, remain in custody for their alleged involvement in the original crime.

In Argentina, authorities in Merlo have arrested four neighbors following the torture and murder of 74-year-old retiree Ángel Rosendo Leguizamón. The victim was found in his home with signs of asphyxiation from a cable and multiple stab wounds. Investigators believe the crime was motivated by robbery, as the victim's cell phone was missing. The suspects, including a couple and two other relatives, face charges of aggravated homicide and concealment.
