Albania, Kosovo and Regional Banks Face Rising Cyber Threats
Security expert Faik Basha warned that a recent drop in the star‑rating system used to assess Albanian businesses is the result of a coordinated cyber attack, describing it as a direct assault on the nation rather than on individual firms.
In Kosovo, scammers are increasingly exploiting the popular online marketplace MerrJep, posing as buyers to lure sellers onto fake payment pages and steal their banking details. Authorities and the platform have urged users to avoid clicking suspicious links and to report any incidents promptly.
Separately, hackers have begun selling the personal data of ProCredit Bank’s clients online, including call‑center records and other sensitive information, raising concerns about data security across the region’s financial institutions.
