Mersin Chamber of Commerce prepares SMEs for European Green Deal

The Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO) is implementing a project to prepare small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and exporters for the requirements of the European Green Deal. Through the project titled ‘Establishment of Green Deal Guidance and Consultancy Centers Between Chambers to Improve the Commercial Activities of SMEs’, MTSO is providing training and field studies to increase technical competencies in green transformation.

Training programs cover critical topics including sustainability, climate management, corporate carbon footprint calculation (ISO 14064-1), the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), water footprint management (ISO 14046), and water efficiency management (ISO 46001). The initiative also includes lead verifier training to enhance the technical skills of consultants.

The project involves international collaboration with partners such as the VOKA Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Belgium and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These partnerships were formalized through the TEBD-2 Project opening and information meetings to facilitate knowledge transfer regarding sustainability developments and green transition processes.
