Mersin Chamber of Shipping outlines new strategic goals

Berdan Doğan, Chairman of the Mersin Chamber of Shipping (MDTO), has announced the strategic objectives and priority projects for his new term. Emphasizing a member-oriented and solution-driven management approach, Doğan aims to increase trade and save time for members by streamlining bureaucratic and operational processes.

As one of only two independent maritime chambers of commerce in Turkey, the MDTO plans to focus on several key areas, including maritime education, port operations, environmental issues, and investments in new container ports and shipyards. Doğan, a long-distance sea captain, stated that the goal is to transition the chamber into a more technological and accessible institution. He expressed a target to reduce the focus on industry problems to 25 percent within three years, shifting the discourse toward new projects and continuous improvements.
