Mersin drivers fined millions of lira for dangerous traffic violations
In Mersin, Turkey, police fined an unlicensed driver 170,000 Turkish lira after he cut across lanes on the 3rd Ring Road, and ordered the vehicle to be removed from traffic for 60 days. The driver was charged under articles 46/2‑g and 36/3‑a of the Highway Traffic Law.
Separately, a driver caught traveling in the opposite direction on Yenişehir’s 34th Street received a 21,000‑lira administrative fine and had his driving licence temporarily seized, citing articles 47/1‑d, 46/2‑i and 45 of the same law. Authorities emphasized that inspections of traffic safety violations will continue.
