Mersin gastronomy showcased at international event in Italy
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality introduced the city's local culinary products at an international gastronomy event held in Torino, Italy. Supported by the European Union-funded Interreg NEXT MED Program through the FOODGaP Project, the initiative aimed to integrate Mersin's rich gastronomic culture into the global culinary network.
During the 'Mediterranean Local Food Systems Platform' conference, participants called for collective solutions regarding food systems. The event facilitated connections between local stakeholders and international participants, potentially opening doors for new collaborations. Discussions also included plans to establish a Slow Food Earth Market in Mersin and hosting the future Slow Food Terra Madre Anadolu event in the city. The presentation emphasized that Mersin's gastronomy is deeply rooted in its historical and cultural heritage, including the influence of the ancient Cilician Road.
