Mersin homeowner faces legal costs after failed eviction lawsuit
A property owner in Mersin, Turkey, has reported significant financial and personal hardship following a failed eviction lawsuit. Ramazan Merveyanoğlu, who purchased an apartment in the Yenişehir district on January 29, 2025, claims he has been unable to access his property or collect rent for approximately two years due to a foreign national tenant.
Merveyanoğlu sought to evict the tenant through the court system but the request was denied. He expressed frustration with an expert report used during the proceedings, which valued the monthly rent at 2,000 TL, a figure he claims is far below the expected 20,000 TL market value. As a result of the court's decision, Merveyanoğlu is now obligated to pay 41,000 TL in attorney fees to the opposing party.
