Mersin Metropolitan Municipality completes firefighter recruitment exams

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has completed the examination stages for the recruitment of 50 new firefighters. A total of 250 candidates, consisting of 225 men and 25 women, participated in the selection process.

The evaluation utilized a four-stage system designed in collaboration with a university to ensure scientific rigor. To eliminate subjective bias, the municipality opted not to conduct oral interviews. Instead, candidates were ranked based on the average score of their KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination) results, a written technical test, a driving course for fire vehicles, and a physical fitness course. Applicants were also required to hold a Class C driver's license.

Sinan Bayraktar, Deputy Secretary General of the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, emphasized the transparency of the process and the vital importance of the fire department for the city's safety against disasters such as fires and earthquakes. Following the 10-day examination period, the top 50 scoring candidates will be appointed to the positions, with an additional 50 candidates placed on a reserve list.
