Mersin Municipality organizes Historical Kilikya Way hike
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality continues its initiative to promote the region's historical and natural beauty through the Historical Kilikya Way walking series. In the latest event, 80 nature enthusiasts completed a 7-kilometer route spanning Fakılar, Sinap Castle, and Çamlıyayla.
The hike followed ancient caravan routes used for historical trade and transportation, leading participants through the Taurus Mountains and past Sığır Plateau. Participants explored the historical texture of Sinap Castle during a scheduled break before the trek concluded in central Çamlıyayla.
Mustafa İslam Erişik, the Historical Kilikya Way Route Coordinator, noted that the total project covers a vast 550-kilometer geography divided into four distinct stages: the Silk Road, the Taurus stage, the Olba stage, and the Afrodisias stage near Taşucu.
