Mersin Metropolitan Municipality provides agricultural support

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has launched a comprehensive support package to increase agricultural production and reduce rising input costs for local producers. Through the Department of Agricultural Services, the municipality distributed various resources across several districts, including Mezitli, Toroslar, Yenişehir, Anamur, Aydıncık, and Bozyazı.

Key distributions included 100% subsidized olive harvesting machines for 347 producers, solar camera systems for 296 beekeepers, and 250,000 narciss bulbs with an 80% subsidy. Additionally, the ‘Hadi Gel Köyümüze Destek Verelim’ project provided 100 small livestock and 16 tons of feed to producers in the Anamur, Aydıncık, and Bozyazı regions. Other supports included 108,000 cucumber seedlings, 5,370 almond saplings, and equipment for 71 small-scale fishermen.

Local officials, including Aydıncık Mayor Özkan Kılıçarpa and Department Head Abdullah Selçuk Şahutoğlu, emphasized the importance of municipal intervention to help farmers manage high production costs and increase their income.
