Mersin municipal police conduct safety inspections and seize spoiled food

Municipal police in Mersin, Turkey, have conducted several enforcement operations to ensure public health and consumer safety. In the Akdeniz district, authorities seized tons of pickles produced under unhygienic conditions. The inspection revealed that approximately 3,500 containers of spoiled, moldy, and foul-smelling pickles were being produced, stored, and packaged in an open area exposed to sunlight, dust, and wastewater. Investigators also found that the unlicensed facility was using counterfeit labels from other brands and reprinting expiration dates. The business was shut down, and administrative fines were issued.

In the Toroslar district, municipal teams focused on stationery retailers ahead of the new school year. Inspections targeted price tags, label accuracy, and the safety of products intended for children, such as notebooks, pens, and coloring materials. Officials verified that products met regulatory standards and that businesses held valid operating licenses to ensure families can shop safely and transparently.
