Mersin Municipality Launches Student Exam Support and Gender Equality Action Plans

The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality’s Social Services Department organized psychological counseling and academic guidance for high‑school students preparing for the University Admissions Exam (YKS) on 20‑21 June. Experts advised students on managing exam anxiety, time‑management, motivation and in‑exam strategies, emphasizing that stress is a natural response and encouraging brief relaxation exercises when physical symptoms arise.

Separately, the Yenişehir district municipality approved a comprehensive gender‑equality action plan for 2026‑2028. The plan targets equal employment opportunities, introduces a “Mor Flag” certification for inclusive workplaces, expands financial incentives for women entrepreneurs, and upgrades public infrastructure for accessibility and safety. It also includes mandatory gender‑sensitivity training for municipal staff, schools and community leaders, and promotes awareness campaigns against harassment and discrimination.
