Mersin police fine 41 drivers over 3.2 million lira for drift and stunt riding
In a series of traffic‑safety crackdowns across Turkey, police in Mersin imposed a total fine of 3 million 202 000 Turkish lira on 41 drivers who performed drifting and other acrobatic maneuvers on motorcycles and cars. Licences and vehicles of all 41 offenders were suspended for 60 days.
Two Mersin motorists who left their vehicles to fight on the road were each fined 362 719 lira, had their licences seized for 60 days and their vehicles banned from traffic for the same period.
In Rize, two drivers caught drifting were fined 301 000 lira and also faced 60‑day licence suspensions. Meanwhile, Antalya police reported a broader operation in which 2 023 people were detained over a week, 237 of them arrested, and weapons and ammunition were seized.
Authorities say the actions demonstrate a continued commitment to curbing dangerous driving behaviours and preserving public safety.
