Mersin Prosecutor showcases prison-made products

Mersin Chief Prosecutor Yasin Emre hosted local journalists at the İşyurtları Institution Sales Store and Restaurant to highlight production activities within Turkey's correctional facilities. The store offers a variety of goods produced by inmates across different regions of the country, including textiles, clothing, souvenirs, food items such as chili flakes, and accessories like belts and prayer beads.

Emre emphasized that the primary goal of the correctional system is rehabilitation and reintegrating inmates into society rather than mere punishment. He noted that inmates participate in various vocational training programs, including woodworking, shipbuilding, and copper processing. Inmates working at the facility receive social security and wages, and the institution provides access to education, sports, and cultural activities to support their development.
