Mersin Sporbüs Project reaches 26,000 children
The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has reached over 26,000 children through its ‘Sporbüs Project,’ an initiative launched to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Managed by the Youth and Sports Services Branch Directorate, the mobile sports vehicle travels to 151 different locations, specifically targeting rural and disadvantaged areas to promote sports accessibility and equality of opportunity.
Under the guidance of professional coaches, children participate in various activities, including team sports such as handball, basketball, and football, as well as skill-based obstacle courses. The program is designed not only for recreation but also to identify and nurture athletic talent in young participants. The project continues to rotate through different neighborhoods across the city's 13 districts, with recent activities held in the Kaşlı neighborhood of the Toroslar district.
