Mersin twins Adel and Kaplan seek urgent stem cell donations
Twin infants Adel and Kaplan Sarpkaya, residing in Mersin, Turkey, are in urgent need of stem cell donations following a diagnosis of major thalassemia. Their parents, Dr. Mehmet Sarpkaya and Birsu Sarpkaya, have launched a campaign to find compatible donors through the Turkish Red Crescent’s stem cell donor program, TÜRKKÖK.
To facilitate the search, the Turkish Red Crescent has deployed a team to the Private Tarsus MMT American Hospital. Potential donors must be between 18 and 35 years old and free of infectious diseases. The donation process involves collecting only three tubes of blood. Individuals unable to attend the scheduled session at the hospital may also visit any Turkish Red Crescent blood collection center to assist.
