Mersin Women's Vocational Training Center Showcases Handcrafted Products

The Halkkent MERCEK Vocational Training Center, run by the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, organized an exhibition featuring hand‑made items created by women who completed the "Garment Production Technologies" program. Over ten courses, 150 female trainees learned pattern making, machine operation and basic tailoring, producing a range of clothing and accessories. The exhibition displayed their work, highlighted free garments sewn for people in need through the municipality’s "Clothing House," and noted that many graduates have either been hired by private firms or started home‑based workshops. The program provides Ministry‑approved certificates and aims to boost entrepreneurship and economic independence among women.

Eren Demir, the centre’s coordinator, said, "With quality training we enable trainees to move forward on the entrepreneurial path."
