Mersin's Mut district begins olive harvest

The olive harvest has commenced in the Mut district of Mersin, Turkey. This region is a major production hub, with 269,000 decares of land and approximately 13 million registered trees contributing to the national supply.

Officials from the Mut District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry expect a high yield this year, with an estimated 300,000 tons of product. Depending on the variety and sieve size, purchase prices for olives are currently ranging between 10 and 60 TL. While the yield is high, local producers have noted that prices are lower than expected compared to previous years.
