Halit Ergenç and Merjem Uzerli reunite for film premiere in El Gouna

Turkish actors Halit Ergenç and Merjem Uzerli, widely recognized for their roles as Sultan Suleiman and Hurrem in the series ‘Magnificent Century’, have reunited for the world premiere of their new film, ‘Imroz’da Bahar’ (Spring on Imroz).

The premiere took place at the ninth El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt. The duo, who also serve as co-producers for the project, appeared together on the red carpet to present the film, marking their first collaboration since Uzerli left ‘Magnificent Century’ due to burnout.

Directed by Özcan Alper, the film was shot on the island of Gökçeada (Imroz). The story follows two individuals whose paths cross on the island as they confront their pasts. Ergenç portrays Arif, a 52-year-old writer struggling with writer's block, while Uzerli plays Sonya, a 41-year-old woman who lost her husband and son three years prior. Uzerli described the film as a message of love, hope, and the possibility of second chances.
