Meryl Streep joins Tom Hanks in ‘Lincoln in the Bardo’ cast

Meryl Streep, Bill Hader, Colman Domingo, and Tom Waits have joined the cast of ‘Lincoln in the Bardo’, an upcoming film featuring a hybrid of live-action and stop-motion animation. The project, directed by Duke Johnson, is adapted from George Saunders’ bestselling novel by Saunders himself.

Tom Hanks will star in the live-action portions as U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. The narrative focuses on Lincoln’s grief following the death of his eleven-year-old son, Willie. Streep is set to voice four distinct characters, including an angel and a demon. Other cast members for the animated segments include Jonathan Bailey, Willem Dafoe, and Peter Dinklage. Production for the film is scheduled to take place in London.
