Merzifon residents receive masks due to dust from water works

In the Merzifon district of Amasya, ongoing drinking water infrastructure renewal projects have led to significant air pollution. The dust, caused by unpaved roads and excavations that have remained unrepaired for months, has raised serious public health concerns among the local population.

Residents report being unable to open windows due to the dust, and local business owners have noted that cleanliness is difficult to maintain. In response to the rising dust levels and concerns over respiratory illnesses, the AK Party Merzifon District Presidency has begun distributing protective masks to citizens. This is the first time such a distribution has occurred in the district since the COVID-19 pandemic. Local officials have also noted that the situation is negatively impacting the local economy and tourism.
