Mães Semnome therapeutic group celebrates 15 years in Rio de Janeiro
The therapeutic group Mães Semnome, which provides support for mothers who have lost children, will celebrate its 15th anniversary on November 16 at the Teatro PRIO in the Jockey Club Brasileiro. Since its inception on Facebook in 2011, the initiative has supported between 6,000 and 7,000 people in Brazil and abroad.
The anniversary event includes the launch of two books: “Reescrevendo Lutos: Uma Nova Perspectiva de Amparo e Justiça,” organized by psychologist Márcia Noleto, and “Tentam nos enterrar, não sabem que somos sementes,” written by economist Helena Taliberti. Additionally, the documentary “Fôlego: até depois do fim,” directed by Candé Salles, will be screened, focusing on the grief experienced by the family of actor Jorge Fernando.
The project is currently managed by the Clínica e Cursos em Fenomenologia (C-FEN) and is supported by 25 volunteer psychologists. The group offers free monthly meetings in both online and in-person formats. The celebration features support from the Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB-RJ) and the Santuário Cristo Redentor, where Padre Omar will represent the sanctuary by activating the project’s symbolic colors, green and purple, at the monument.
