Meshell Ndegeocello releases Synonym covers and duets album

Meshell Ndegeocello has released Synonym, her third album with Blue Note, which functions as both a covers album and a duets record. The 15-track collection features a fluid blend of jazz, funk, folk, R&B, hip-hop, and rock.

The project includes high-profile collaborations with artists such as Cat Power and ANOHNI. Notable tracks include a soulful, slow rendition of the Human League’s ‘Don’t You Want Me’ featuring Cat Power, and a dream-like interpretation of Bob Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’. Co-produced by David Gamso, the album emphasizes Ndegeocello’s signature warm and funky bass playing.
