Mesón Sabor Andaluz Michelin star boosts Alcalá del Valle economy

The awarding of a Michelin star to Mesón Sabor Andaluz in November 2024 has significantly boosted tourism and economic activity in the town of Alcalá del Valle, located in the Sierra de Cádiz.

Local businesses are seeing direct benefits from the increased influx of gourmet tourists. The town's primary company, Cooperativa Andaluza Europeos, reports that the restaurant accounts for approximately 8% of its sales. Furthermore, demand for the cooperative's olive oil has increased sales by more than 10%, as visitors specifically seek out products they tasted at the restaurant. The cooperative, which generates roughly 9.5 million euros in revenue, also sees expanded opportunities for its iconic green asparagus, moving from large-scale chain distribution to supplying several local restaurants.
