Mesolonghi hosts musical commemoration for 200th anniversary

A commemorative musical performance titled ‘Mesolonghi, all around you is Light’ was held on August 30, 2026, at the Mesolonghi Open Theater. The event honored the 200th anniversary of the historic Exodus of Mesolonghi.

The production featured performances by Sofia Manou, Thanasis Viskadourakis, and Natalia Dragoumi. The musical elements were supported by the Kanon Orchestra of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, conducted by Giannis Beloni, under the artistic direction of Georgios Demelis. The performance utilized texts by Dr. Ilios Liamis to provide historical and spiritual context to the city's legacy of resistance and sacrifice.
