Mesorrachi–Eleftherai road project completed in Thessaly

The Mesorrachi–Eleftherai road has been completed and delivered to the public. Former Thessaly Regional Governor Kostas Agorastos noted that the project was initiated under the 2011–2023 regional administration, which secured funding through the NSRF (ESPA) and signed a contract worth €3.38 million (excluding VAT) in March 2022.

The project faced several delays and challenges, including the economic crisis, capital controls, the COVID-19 pandemic, lengthy expropriation processes, and significant material price increases resulting from the war in Ukraine.

Agorastos commented on the political context of the inauguration, stating that while the current administration is completing the work, the groundwork and funding were established by the previous administration. He noted that the current leadership had to approve a supplementary contract of approximately €693,700 to finalize the project.
