Messenia preventive health screenings result in over 2,300 early diagnoses
Periklis Mantas, the Member of Parliament for Messenia, has highlighted the impact of the ‘PROLAMBANO’ preventive health programs in the region. Data shows that 90,824 free preventive screenings were conducted in Messenia, targeting breast cancer, cervical cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.
The screenings resulted in 2,328 early findings that allowed for immediate therapeutic intervention. Specifically, 14,931 women underwent breast cancer screenings with 1,153 early detections, while 20,174 women were screened for cervical cancer, leading to 977 early findings. Additionally, 55,719 citizens received cardiovascular screenings, identifying 198 cases.
Mantas emphasized that these results demonstrate how organized, free access to preventive medicine serves as a vital investment in public health and quality of life, noting that early diagnosis can be life-saving.
