Messi and the Giants animated series revealed for Disney+

Disney+ has revealed the first teaser for ‘Messi and the Giants’, an animated sports-fantasy series executive produced by Lionel Messi. The announcement was made at the San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in Spain, where the trailer was presented to an audience of over 3,000 fans.

The series follows Leo, a 12-year-old boy who becomes trapped in an alternate reality called Iko, ruled by giants. To return home, Leo must compete in high-stakes, soccer-inspired battles using powerful ‘orbs’. Unlike other inhabitants of Iko, Leo cannot use the world’s special powers, forcing him to rely on skill, teamwork, and determination.

Production involves Sony Pictures Television, Sony Music Vision, and Atlantis Animation. The series also features a posthumous executive producer credit for Messi’s father, Jorge Messi Pérez. The original theme song, ‘Vamos, Vamos, Vamos’, is performed by Argentine singer Luck Ra, and actor Milo Burgess-Webb provides the voice for the character Leo.

The series is scheduled for a global release on Disney+ in the summer of 2027, with additional broadcasts on the Disney Channel in the United States.
