Messi retires from Argentina national team as Tabilo enters Shanghai Masters

Lionel Messi has officially concluded his international career with the Argentina national team following a friendly victory against Benin at the Estadio Monumental. During the match, Messi scored his 126th goal for the national side via a penalty kick. In an emotional post-match address to 86,000 fans, Messi expressed his pride in representing Argentina and urged supporters to remain united, stating, “There are people who want to see the national team do poorly, so we must not give them the satisfaction.” The match also marked the final appearance for Nicolás Otamendi.

In tennis, Chilean player Alejandro Tabilo is competing in both singles and doubles at the Shanghai Masters 1000. As the 29th seed in the singles draw, Tabilo received a bye in the first round and is scheduled to face Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta in the second round. In the doubles category, Tabilo is partnered with the Netherlands’ David Pel, with their opening match set against André Göransson and Robert Galloway.
