Messina adopts new nightclub safety protocol

A protocol for preventing illegal acts and dangerous situations in and around nightclubs was signed at the Messina Prefecture. The agreement brings together public authorities, police forces, local councils, industry associations and venue operators to create a shared safety model.

Key measures include staff training, upgraded video‑surveillance systems, the use of handheld metal detectors at entrances, breath‑alcohol testing for patrons, special safeguards for minors, and the appointment of a safety liaison in each participating venue to maintain direct contact with police. Participation is voluntary for club owners, aiming to make the nightlife scene safer for citizens, young people and tourists.
