Messina advances maritime infrastructure and shipyard projects
Significant maritime infrastructure developments are underway in Messina, Italy. Construction of the new Messina Cruise Terminal is progressing steadily under a public-private partnership between the Strait Port System Authority and Messina Cruise Terminal S. r. l., a company within the MSC Group. The project involves an investment exceeding 8 million euros, with 3 million euros provided by the Port Authority. Recent site activities include the upcoming installation of two tower cranes, measuring 20 and 30 meters in height, equipped with advanced safety sensors.
Separately, Palumbo Shipyards has completed technical restoration work on the GP30 lock gate at the Messina Military Arsenal. The 60-day project, commissioned by the Defense Industry Agency, involved replacing over 40 tons of steel and various essential components. This restoration restores full operational capacity to the basin, which is a strategic infrastructure used for the maintenance and support of Italian Navy vessels.
