Messina and Castellanzese re‑sign defenders Mauro Bollino and Alessandro Sassaro

Italian lower‑division clubs have reinforced their squads ahead of the new season. ACR Messina welcomed back Mauro Bollino, the 29‑year‑old forward who helped the club achieve promotion to Serie C in 2020‑21 with ten goals and ten assists. Bollino previously played for several Serie C sides and most recently for Nissa and Gela before returning to his hometown club.

U.S.D. Castellanzese 1921 also announced the return of central defender Alessandro Sassaro from Pro Patria. The 190‑cm, 2004‑born centre‑back featured in 31 matches for Castellanzese in the 2023‑24 campaign and is expected to provide height, physicality and defensive stability for the team.

Both signings aim to strengthen the defensive units of the respective clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season.
