Messina awarded €5 million contract to complete Giostra‑Annunziata O and P ramps

After more than 17 years of delay, the Interregional Board of Public Works approved a contract for the completion and geological safety of the O and P ramps at the Giostra‑Annunziata interchange in Messina. The work, valued at roughly €5 million and financed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, will be carried out by Ingegneria Costruzioni Colombrita Srl of San Giovanni La Punta.

Mayor Federico Basile hailed the award as a long‑awaited step for the city, saying the ramps are “strategic infrastructure that has been waiting for years.” The project follows a 2023 meeting between the mayor and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini that secured the funding, and was also endorsed by Senator Nino Germanà, who noted the ministerial support.

Once construction begins, the ramps are expected to improve north‑south traffic flow and reduce urban congestion in Messina.
