Messina Basketball bolsters squad with Argentine defender Sbuttoni and youth prospect Maiorana

Messina Basket School SSDRL announced the signing of Salvatore Maiorana, a 2006‑born playmaker who rose through the ranks of Svincolati Milazzo. Maiorana has recorded strong scoring averages across the under‑15, under‑17 and senior levels, and in the 2024/25 season he posted a 20.5 points per game average in Serie C, later becoming a regular in the Serie B Interregionale side.

The club is also close to completing the acquisition of 37‑year‑old Argentine defender Franco Sbuttoni. Sbuttoni brings extensive experience from Argentina’s Primera Nacional and Superliga and recent Serie D spells with Puteolana and Gela. The agreement is expected to be finalized ahead of the squad’s gathering on 28 July.
