Messina Committee proposes improvements for Piazza del Popolo

The Piazza del Popolo – Largo Seggiola Committee has submitted a formal petition to various authorities in Messina, including the Mayor, Prefect, and local law enforcement, seeking to enhance the security, livability, and decorum of Piazza del Popolo, Largo Seggiola, Via Cernaia, and surrounding areas.

The committee, represented by President Giuseppe Cosentino and Secretary Debora Buda, has outlined several proposals aimed at improving public safety and accessibility while safeguarding the dignity of vulnerable individuals and supporting local economic activities. Key suggestions include strengthening the presence and coordination of law enforcement and municipal police, potentially through stable outposts or coordinated periodic services between 7:00 and 21:00.

Additional proposals involve enhancing road safety through vehicle inspections and parking regularity checks, as well as evaluating the potential relocation of the local organic market to improve the area's functionality.
