Messina graduates start 2026 Maturità exams amid anti‑fake warnings

On 18 June 2026 the first written Italian exam of the 2026 Maturità began for more than 5,000 secondary‑school students in the province of Messina, part of the 44,325 examinees called to sit the exam across Sicily. The Ministry of Education supplied seven essay prompts covering text analysis, argumentative writing and current‑affairs topics, with a six‑hour time limit.

The Regional Police issued a video warning “Occhio alle bufale” to caution against the spread of false exam content and the use of prohibited aids such as ChatGPT or other AI tools. Commissioners will monitor compliance during the test.

Provincial education commissioner Leon Zingales addressed the candidates, urging them not to fear dreaming and to look beyond the exam. Regional education director Filippo Serra added, “L’esame di maturità è un traguardo importante nel percorso scolastico dei nostri giovani…”. The exams proceed with standard procedures, including internal and external commissioners and an external president overseeing each commission.
