Italy healthcare updates: new facilities and medical services announced
Several healthcare developments have been announced across various Italian regions. In Sicily, the Cutroni Zodda hospital in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto has inaugurated ordinary hospitalization beds within its Rehabilitation Unit. This unit, which covers neurological, orthopedic, and cognitive-functional rehabilitation, will initially launch with four beds—including one for premature infants—with plans to expand to twenty-four beds. Additionally, the hospital is resuming botulinum toxin treatments for spasticity and dystonia.
In the Messina province, a new family doctor has been secured for the village of Gesso, starting November 1, to ensure continuity of care following the retirement of the previous physician. Furthermore, the Asp di Messina is set to inaugurate a new 'Casa della Comunità' in Montalbano Elicona on October 28, aimed at strengthening territorial healthcare services in mountainous areas.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Casa di Selz residential community in Ronchi dei Legionari has reopened following a 170,000-euro renovation. Managed by Consorzio Il Mosaico and Cooperativa sociale Thiel, the facility provides mental health support and has been upgraded to offer better accessibility and improved living spaces for its residents.
