Messina holds funeral for 17-year-old Rebecca Galli after fatal accident

The city of Messina held a funeral at the Cathedral to honor 17-year-old Rebecca Galli, who died following a serious road accident on September 24 on via Don Blasco. The service was attended by a large crowd, including many students from Archimede High School, many of whom wore t-shirts featuring her photograph and held blue roses.

An investigation by the Juvenile Court of Messina is underway to reconstruct the dynamics of the collision. The autopsy revealed severe head trauma incompatible with survival. A 16-year-old, who was riding the scooter involved in the accident, remains hospitalized with injuries and is currently under investigation.

During the service, Father Francesco addressed the congregation, describing the death as “deeply unjust” and noting the fragility of life. The community has gathered at the site of the accident to leave tributes to the student, who was known for her love of languages and travel.
