Messina launches safety and civil protection program for schools

The City of Messina has launched preparatory meetings for the 15th edition of the 'Messina RISK SIS. MA 2026' safety week, scheduled to take place from October 12 to 17. The initiative is part of the national Civil Protection Week.

During a meeting at Palazzo Zanca, municipal officials and school leaders discussed integrating safety and prevention into the school curriculum. The goal is to build a culture of safety among young people by teaching them how to recognize risks and adopt appropriate behaviors during emergencies. Municipal civil protection expert Antonio Rizzo emphasized that awareness is the first step in effective prevention, noting that the role of civil protection extends beyond emergency response to include community preparedness.
