Messina Metropolitan City maintains current school network for 2027/2028

The Provincial Conference for the Organization of the School Network has unanimously approved a proposal to maintain the current configuration of educational institutions within the Metropolitan City of Messina for the 2027/2028 school year. The decision ensures that there will be no mergers or suppressions of schools in the territory.

During the meeting held at Palazzo dei Leoni, Leon Zingales, a director from the Messina territorial office, presented the results of discussions held with representatives from the Sicilian Region. These consultations indicated that no organizational changes or downsizing were necessary for the provincial school system.

The conference, presided over by Metropolitan Mayor Federico Basile, included representatives from various municipalities, including Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Pace del Mela, and Patti, as well as school principals and trade unions such as ANIEF, CISL, and SNALS. Mayor Basile stated that the unanimous approval aims to safeguard the presence of educational institutions within local communities and ensure organizational continuity.
