Messina mourns 21‑year‑old Alessandra Frazzica after building collapse

The city of Messina halted its daily life to attend the funeral of Alessandra Frazzica, the youngest victim of the recent Pistunina building collapse. The ceremony took place in the cathedral, where the archbishop Giovanni Accolla led the service and praised the solidarity of the whole city.

Family members, the mayor Federico Basile, deputy mayor Laura Castelli, municipal officials, police, fire, Carabinieri, Coast Guard, civil‑protection volunteers and university representatives were present. The coffin, covered with a floral pillow and a photograph of the 21‑year‑old university student who worked in the Chinese bazaar inside the collapsed structure, was received by a large crowd of citizens paying their respects.
