Messina opens Agorà dello Stretto park as Palermo unveils Perseo fountain

Messina inaugurated the Agorà dello Stretto, a new urban park covering 32,700 sq m along the waterfront. The €4 million project, financed by the Strait of Messina Port Authority, includes 7,000 new plants, pedestrian promenades, playgrounds, fitness zones and a panoramic viewpoint over the sea. The park will be managed by the city for six years and is intended to become a major summer gathering place.

In Palermo, a recent installation in the Renaissance courtyard of Palazzo Castrone depicts the myth of Perseus rescuing Andromeda, with Pegasus identified as the hero’s mount. The marble composition combines sculpture, water and architectural framing to create a theatrical scene that visitors can explore.

Both projects reflect ongoing cultural revitalisation efforts in Sicily, blending heritage with contemporary public spaces.
