Messina: Private bus flees after colliding with car in Piazza della Repubblica

A private bus collided with a Ford passenger car in Piazza della Repubblica, Messina, before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred while the car was attempting a left turn toward via del Vespro. According to preliminary investigations, the bus was traveling north toward the ferry terminals, utilizing a lane reserved for trams.

The driver of the Ford, a doctor on duty at the Policlinico, was treated at the scene by emergency medical services after being shaken by the impact. While no serious injuries were reported, the collision caused significant damage to the vehicle.

Municipal police have since located the bus and are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Authorities are working to determine why the bus was in the tram lane and why the driver failed to stop immediately following the collision.
