Italy student transport faces delays and service suspensions

Various regions in Italy are facing significant disruptions to student transportation services, ranging from logistical inefficiencies to safety violations.

In Novoli, Lecce, the school bus service was suspended after Carabinieri discovered that a vehicle had an expired inspection certificate. This resulted in dozens of students being left without transport, prompting the mayor to promise reimbursements for the affected families.

In Messina, local officials are addressing complaints regarding Line 16, where drivers must make multiple trips to accommodate all students, causing frequent delays. Similarly, in the Migliarina-Carpi area, parents have reported overcrowding and inconsistent routes on Line 540.

Other reported issues include overcrowding on the Manfredonia-Mattinata route, where students are forced to stand despite having subscriptions, and significant delays on the C174 line near Como due to ongoing roadworks. In Udine, regional authorities are meeting with transport providers to address student petitions regarding irregular schedules and long wait times.
