Messina schools face internet service outages
Schools in Messina, Italy, are experiencing a loss of internet connectivity, hindering multimedia teaching and administrative activities. The outage is reportedly due to the expiration of a national contract between the Ministry and the telecommunications company Fastweb, which had provided broadband coverage to Italian schools for five years.
Local officials have noted that the contract expired without prior notice to schools or local institutions. This has left tens of thousands of students and staff without web access. Reports indicate that teachers, administrative staff, and even some students have had to rely on personal mobile data to maintain basic educational and clerical functions.
