Messina Servizi diverts resources to combat illegal waste dumping

Messina Servizi has reported that the company is facing significant operational strain due to the need to address illegal waste dumping. To remediate unauthorized landfills, the company must divert personnel and resources away from routine municipal services, such as scheduled waste collection and the removal of bulky items.

In the Case Gialle district of Bordonaro, the company recently removed over 15 tons of abandoned waste, including wood and electronic waste. The company noted that these recurring illegal activities force them to return to the same locations repeatedly, impacting the efficiency of services for which citizens pay taxes. Residents have reported delays in bulky waste collection, with some wait times reaching nearly two months.
