Messina to host pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology conference

The “Gut and Liver Future” conference is scheduled for October 2 and 3 at the Palacongressi of the AOU “G. Martino” in Messina. The event focuses on innovation and integration within pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology.

Organized jointly by the Pediatric Gastroenterology and Cystic Fibrosis UOSD of AOU “G. Martino,” coordinated by Professor Claudio Romano, and the Pediatrics department of IRCCS ISMETT in Palermo, coordinated by Dr. Giusy Ranucci, the conference addresses complex challenges in pediatric medicine. Key topics include rare liver diseases such as biliary atresia and genetic cholestasis, liver diseases associated with intestinal pathologies like primary sclerosing cholangitis, and new therapies for immunomediated diseases of the liver and intestine.

The program also covers surgical techniques, pediatric liver and kidney transplants, precision medicine for chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, and early diagnosis of intestinal failure, emphasizing an integrated view of the gut-liver axis.
